What is First Night Alexandria?

What is First Night Alexandria (FNA) and how does it benefit our community?

First Night Alexandria, Inc. is dedicated to broadening and deepening the community’s appreciation of the performing and visual arts. We provide an alternative to traditional New Year’s Eve celebrations that enables the public to enjoy an evening of curated entertainment.  A portion of proceeds supports young musicians studying choral, band and orchestra in Alexandria city middle and high schools. Over the past 10 years FNA has donated over $35K. These funds help fill the gap in purchasing sheet music, uniforms, instruments, traveling to competitions and so much more. Now in our 26th year, this experience is always alcohol-free, affordable and family friendly.

FNA 2020 is family-friendly and suitable for an intergenerational fun time together.

Who benefits from First Night Alexandria?

First Night Alexandria, Inc. is dedicated to broadening and deepening the community’s appreciation of the performing and visual arts. Covid-19 Information

Do I need to wear my face mask?

When outside of your vehicle within your parking space, we require the use of face masks. During travel to and from the restrooms and food trucks, guests are REQUIRED to wear face masks and maintain a social distance of no less than six feet in every direction while in line. Restroom facilities will maintain social distance protocols.

How are we keeping restrooms clean and healthy? How many restrooms will be available?

Portable toilets will be available on-site with strict guidelines to ensure safety and cleanliness for all attendees. Restrooms will be fully sanitized and disinfectant products will be available, along with multiple hand sanitizing stations.

Can I get out of my car during the show?

Yes, but attendees must remain in their designated 15’x20’ parking space. You are permitted to leave your designated space for food truck pick-ups and restroom visits. Attendees MUST wear a face mask when outside of their vehicle. During travel to and from the restrooms and food trucks, guests are required to maintain a social distance of no less than six feet in every direction. Please maintain social distancing while in line for restroom facilities. *Note: Security will enforce a strict “NO GATHERING” policy on the grounds.

What do I get for showing up in person?

The Drive-In Experience will provide live interactions with the audience and chances to win great prizes.  In-person attendees will enjoy big screen viewing, receive a welcome Swag Bag, Goodfynd food truck favorites with online advance ordering, great prizes and giveaways and an on-screen grand fireworks display set to music.

Where is the In-Person event location?

Why should I buy a VIP ticket?

Will tickets be sold at the gate?

NO, Tickets will not be sold at the gate for the purpose of crowd control.

Are both shows the same?

Yes, the presentations are the same.

What if I lose/forget my ticket or delete the confirmation email?

Your ticket is always accessible through the Goodfynd ticketing website. Check-In staff members can also pull up your information if you can’t find your ticket.

Food & Beverage

Will there be food and drinks sold? Also, can I bring my own snack?

Yes, food and beverages will be sold by local area food trucks. Attendees may purchase food and beverages online through Goodfynd in advance or onsite. You will be notified by text message when your order is ready for pick up. While we encourage you to support local food trucks, you may also bring your own snacks. Cooking your own food on the premises is not allowed.

What does my In-Person Ticket include?

Tickets will be scanned by an event staff, through the window of the vehicle. Prices will start at $60 per vehicle. VIP Tickets are also available for $75 per vehicle and includes extra perks. Each ticket will be provided with approximately 15ft X 20ft of parking space (No oversized vehicles, buses, campers, RVs, limousines will be permitted).

Is there a limit on how many tickets I can purchase?

There is no limit as to how many tickets can be purchased, however the VIP In-Person car maximums will be enforced.

Will tickets be sold at the gate?

NO, Tickets will not be sold at the gate for the purpose of crowd control

Will there be assigned parking spaces?

NO. Parking attendants will park cars on a first come, first serve basis.

I am going with a group of several cars; can we park next to each other?

Yes, however, if you wish to park next to another car from your party, you must plan to arrive together. Parking spots will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis, with no option to reserve a spot for another vehicle running late. Please follow the directions of event staff at all times.

Can I bring my motorcycle? How many are allowed per parking space?

Yes, motorcycles are welcome. One per parking space.

How early can I arrive to get a good parking spot?

Gates will open 60 minutes before the start of the event.

How Many people per vehicle?

No more than 5 people per sedan and no more than 7 per SUV’s with 3rd row seating.

What should I bring along to the event?

Your ticket with printed barcode or on your mobile device, blankets in case you get cold when your vehicle is turned off.

What should I NOT bring to the event?

***THIS IS A FAMILY-FRIENDLY EVENT. NO ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED IN CARS OR ON THE PREMISES. No Fireworks of any kind, etc., laser pointers, drones.

How do I hear the show at the Drive-In?

Using your car radio, please turn to the posted FM radio station which will be on the show screen upon entry. The show sound will come through your car speakers. You may also bring your own battery powered, portable FM radio, if you wish. *Note: Radio apps will not work. Use your vehicle’s radio: Be sure to check your owner’s manual so you can safely play your vehicle’s radio without draining its battery and having the lights on.

Can I arrive after the show has started? What time should I arrive?

The Gates will open one hour before the start of the show and will close 15 minutes after the show begins.  Plan your arrival accordingly.

If I have a pickup truck or SUV, can I park backwards and sit in the back to watch the shows?

Yes, HOWEVER, please keep in mind other cars’ line of sight. If opening the hatch is higher than the top clearance of your vehicle, you may be asked to lower the hatch out of courtesy to other cars. Please do not sit on top of your car, as it poses a danger and can potentially block the view of others behind you.

Can I leave in the middle of a show?

To ensure the best experience for all attendees, we ask that you only move your vehicle in the event of an emergency.  Notify a parking attendant for assistance in exiting.

Will there be merchandise vendors at the venue?

No.

Will you offer hands-on arts/craft activities for kids under 12?

No. Parents are welcome to bring such items for their children.

Is smoking permitted on the drive-in grounds?

No. The venue is smoke free.

I have an emergency. Will there be medical support onsite and how do I get in touch with them?

Yes, medical support will be available via 911. Emergency numbers will be posted at the venue. And our parking lot attendants will be visible the entire night in orange vests.

What happens if my car battery dies?

We can help if your battery dies. Please see one of our parking lot attendants to advise. We will get your vehicle started at the end of the show in time for you to exit the lot.

Did you know about the Alexandria Car Idle Law?

The law to reduce vehicle emissions. With a few exceptions, motor vehicles powered by gasoline or diesel are not allowed to idle for more than three minutes while the vehicle is parked, stopped or standing. Please be mindful during the show and do not idle your engine.

Refund & Rain-Out Policy

All sales are final. No refunds. If the event is cancelled in advance, prior to parking lots and show doors opening, you will receive notification to the same email and mobile number provided at the time of your ticket purchase. You will be provided with a link to view the show online. First Night Alexandria, Inc. is a 501c3 Non-Profit organization and you will receive a letter of acknowledgement for your tax-deductible donation in excess of $20.

Temporary Pause(s)

While shows are expected to run rain or shine, pauses may occur in the event of lightning and other qualifying events (like technical difficulties) and as may be necessary for the safety of our guests. Temporary pause(s) does(do) not qualify as a cancelled event. In the case of a temporary pause, simple and important instructions will be broadcast to all guests via show screens and audio sources. First Night Alexandria will always have the best interest of our guests in mind and will always prioritize safety. When weather (or other qualifying events) improves, FNA will resume the show.

In the event the showing is unable to resume and finish, you will be provided with a link to view the show online.  First Night Alexandria, Inc. is a 501c3 Non-Profit organization and you will receive a letter of acknowledgement for your tax-deductible donation in excess of $20.

Fireworks

Each show will culminate with an exciting on-screen fireworks display set to music. Unfortunately, there will not be a live fireworks display over the Potomac River in an effort to ensure public safety and prevent excessive crowds.
