Parking & Transportation

If you are driving, here are some insider tips for finding the best parking spots in Alexandria:

Garage Parking

Tip:

• The Market Square Garage (108 N. Fairfax Street) & Courthouse Square (111 S. Pitt Street) in Old Town Alexandria are just $2 all day on Saturdays and Sundays, $2 all evening for weekdays after 5 p.m., and $2 per hour or $8 all day on weekdays before 5 p.m.

Street Parking

Street parking spaces in Old Town are free after 7 p.m. and on Sundays and state holidays. In Carlyle, street spaces are free after 5 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays, and state holidays and Del Ray offers free parking!

Meters accept credit cards and coins.

Tips:

• A receipt from a multi-space meter is good throughout the city at any other metered space while it still has time remaining.

• Leave the meters behind: there are plenty of free two- and three-hour spots just a block or two off of King Street (north of Cameron Street or south of Duke Street)

Handicapped Parking

Handicapped parking is free for up to four hours at single- and multi-space meters. In addition, individuals with a handicapped license plate or hangtag can park more than twice the time posted on signs in time-restricted parking zones.

Public Transportation
