First Night Alexandria Fun Hunt

The Fourth Annual Fun Hunt (a scavenger hunt) will kick off at 2:00 pm on December 31, 2012.

Clue sheets can be picked up at that time at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron Street and at the Torpedo Factory Art Center, 105 N. Union Street. A 2012 First Night Alexandria admission badge is required to pick up a clue sheet. One clue sheet per team. Limited to 125 teams at each location.

You will be following in the steps of George Washington and other players in Alexandria's history as you solve clues from historical plaques and buildings.

Be sure to return to the Durant Arts Center by 5:45 pm in order to be eligible for three grand prizes. This year there will be three prizes for adults and three for children! This is NOT a timed event! Winners must be present to claim their prize. Each team must decide if it wants to enter for an adult or kids' prize bag. You cannot enter both.

Here is how it works:

The Fun Hunt will last from 2:00 to 5:30 pm

This is NOT a timed event. The clues will lead you to locations where you must find a piece of information that you will write on the clue sheet. All clues can be found outside; you don’t have to go into any buildings to find the answers. The spaces on the clue sheet under each clue represent a letter or punctuation mark that you must fill in.

Each team that correctly completes the Hunt requirements will be eligible for a prize. It should take between 60 and 90 minutes to complete the Hunt with no stops. However, we encourage you to stop at the many fine eateries along the way and enjoy lunch, grab a bottle of water or a bio break while you strategize.

Between 5:30 and 5:45 pm all completed Fun Hunt forms must be turned in at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron Street in Alexandria. A drawing of the completed Fun Hunt forms for the prizes will occur at the Durant Arts Center at 6:00 pm during the kickoff of First Night Alexandria.

Winners must be present to win and claim their prize.

To be eligible to win one of the prizes, the following must be provided by each Fun Hunt participant or team:

A completed Fun Hunt form which includes the name of the participant or “team Captain”.
Correct answers to all of the clues.
At least one 2012 First Night Alexandria admission badge for each clue sheet. Please note that the 2012 First Night Alexandria badge may be obtained at the Durant Arts Center or the Torpedo Factory Art Center when you pick up your clue sheet.

It is recommended that the participants form teams. Although the teams can be any size, it is recommended that you should consider a maximum of six (6) per team.

Teams must decide if they want to enter to win an adult prize bag or a childrens prize bag. You cannot enter both drawings.
